PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE
2013 -- Present Churchill County Commissioner, District 1- Accomplishments
2012 -- 2013 As Interim Churchill County Superintendent of Schools I pledged to balance the budget and to bring in a new positive moral and environment to the entire school district. I feel that I was able to accomplish of those goals in the short time I was there.
2003 – 2011 As Dean of the Fallon Campus & Rural Development, I worked directly for the Vice President of Academic and Student Affairs. My areas of responsibility included the management of the Fallon Campus and five rural instructional centers, Foundation operations, workforce development, and community education. Under these general categories was oversight of the Specialty Crop Institute, Advanced Truck Driving School, theater arts, economic development, and community relations.
1999 – 2003 As Dean of the Fallon Campus and Extended Programs, I worked directly for the Vice President of Institutional Development. My areas of responsibility for academic programs included the following: Fallon Campus, Douglas Campus, Nursing & Allied Health, Distance Education, Prison Education, and outlying instructional centers (located in Fernley, Hawthorne, Lovelock, Smith and Yerington). I supervised and evaluated full and part-time faculty and was responsible for the budgets within my areas of responsibility.
1994 – 1999 As Dean of Off Campus Programs and Allied Health, I worked directly for the President of the College. My areas of responsibility for academic programs included the following: Nursing & Allied Health, Distance Education, Douglas Campus, Prison Education, and outlying college centers. I supervised and evaluated full and part-time faculty and was responsible for the budgets within my areas of responsibility.
1992 – 1994 As Associate Dean of Off Campus Programs/Distance Education, I worked directly for the Vice President of Academic Affairs. My responsibilities included the direction of all academic programs for all campus sites and supervision of the development of all college-wide distance education (interactive video) activities. I supervised and evaluated full and part-time faculty and was responsible for the off campus programs budgets.
1981 – 1992 As Assistant Dean of the Fallon Campus/Distance Education, I worked directly for the Executive Dean of the Fallon Campus. My responsibilities included the direction of all academic programs for the Fallon Campus/Rural Centers and supervision of the development of all college-wide distance-learning activities.
1979 – 1981 Full-time faculty member at WNCC teaching in the areas of developmental English, mathematics, and physical education.
1977 – 1979 Full-time counselor for WNCC in the areas of career guidance, financial aid, and veteran benefits. Worked with the Experience-based Career Exploration program.
1975 – 1977 Community Education Coordinator for Mineral County, Nevada. Also served as coordinator for the Hawthorne Center of Western Nevada Community College.
1974 – 1975 Master’s degree (Mott Intern) from Brigham Young University assigned to Mineral County, Nevada. Worked closely with local school district officials and county agencies in the development of a community education master plan.
1968 – 1974 Full-time student. Some of the jobs I held to earn my way through college were hay hauler, custodian, substitute teacher, recreation leader, sports official, farmer, and drapery shop manager.
